Intelligent Optimist: Jamie Pritscher

Jamie Pritscher always dreamed of starting her own company, one that would make a difference. She came up with That’s Caring, a website that offers "a greener way to give," with eco-friendly gift baskets. Jamie scoured Chicago sources to find the perfect items—including products from local non-profits that allow consumers to give back to their communities—and worked with a carbon offset company to ensure That’s Caring gifts have a light ecological footprint. Jamie continues to upgrade the eco-friendliness of her products and their packaging. She also speaks at local schools. One day, she visited my classroom and spread her entrepreneurial enthusiasm to my students. She shared her insights about how she incorporated mathematics into her career. These are just some examples of Jamie’s incredible giving spirit.
